By the time you receive this newsletter, Australian National Flag Day will be fast approaching. ANFA branches and supporters across the country will be working hard to make the day a success.
Here is what is planned for Queensland:
SPECIAL GUEST: THE PREMIER OF QUEENSLAND, THE HON PETER BEATTIE MP
We are delighted to announce that our special guest at the service on Saturday 3 September will be the Premier of Queensland the Hon Peter Beattie MP.
Our traditional flag raising ceremony will take place in King George Square at 10.30am - guests are invited to arrive from 10.00am to enjoy music provided by the Royal Australian Navy Band.
The colour party for the flag raising will be provided by Australian Army personnel from 7th Combat Services Support Battalion (Enoggera).
There is no shade in the square, so don't forget a hat and sunscreen - in the case of rain the service will take place in City Hall.
All are welcome at this event, so please invite anybody you know who may be interested.

Bundaberg & District Korean War Veterans will once again conduct a service to commemorate Australian National Flag Day. The event will take place at 930 hrs. at Lions' Remembrance Park in Takalvan Street , Bundaberg.

Toowoomba branch is celebrating its 21st birthday as well as National Flag day with our usual Flag ceremony under the winning Flag Pole for our annual awards.
Each year we award a certificate to a Flag flier, who has flown the Flag for three years or more and is not a previous recipient.
Twenty years ago there were only two candidates in the whole City, today there are so many we have lost count, but certainly over 50.
Our award winner this year is Austral Bricks, who fly the biggest Flag in town. It is enormous, about a 4 yard size and can be seen by about one third of the City's population. Two years ago it was stolen, but the owners had a thief proof pole modified and it has stayed there ever since.
Unhappily because Flag falls on a Saturday, which is an awkward day for the owners and most others concerned, we are holding the ceremony on Friday the 2nd September, at 10 AM under the Flag at Austral Bricks premises at 29 Mort Street . This allows all concerned to attend, as well as facilitating the attendance of Austral Bricks principals and staff from Brisbane .
We would welcome any members or visitors who can attend.
If you cannot get along to any of the flag ceremonies, why not arrange one of your own, or encourage your neighbours to fly the flag? At the very least, wear a flag badge on 3 September to celebrate our flag's 104th "birthday"!
